An established Seward corner gets a fresh Thai twist.
Fusion was the name of the game when designing Soberfish Thai & Sushi. When stepping into the empty digs of a neighborhood legend, the design of the interior had to carefully walk the line between Thai and Japanese; traditional and modern decor; uptown edginess and east side comfort. Uncovered terrazzo floors and original brick walls at once elevate the space and break it down into something more comfortable. The old world charm of the space serves as a backdrop for modern Thai photographs and traditional Japanese prints. With multiple levels and a glimpse into the private event space beyond the reclaimed geometric sliding wood wall, the dining room feels simultaneously roomy and cozy.
